The coastal villages of Cinque Terre demand a completely different visual intelligence from the quiet countryside of Tuscany. You develop the ability to adapt your photography, not repeat the same style. The photographers who leave do not have a homogenous portfolio. They have two distinct bodies of work — and the understanding of how they were made.

of the Countryside In Tuscany, everything slows down. The workshop shifts register completely — from the dynamic coastal energy of Cinque Terre to the slow, atmospheric minimalism of the Val d’Orcia. Cypress-lined roads in the morning fog, rolling hills that recede in layers to the horizon, isolated farmhouses that haven’t changed in a century. This is where you learn that composition is not about finding a beautiful view — it is about learning to wait for the light to define the geometry that was already there. Trained on the Coast
Growing up in Tuscany shaped how I see before I frame. The fog in Val d’Orcia at dawn, the quality of late afternoon light on rolling hills — these are not things I read about. They are things I have watched for years. The Cinque Terre coastline taught me a different discipline: the speed of changing light, the geometry of vertical architecture, the patience required to find originality in a place that has been photographed millions of times.

Vernazza at sunrise from the hillside path — no crowds, perfect light, a composition I had never thought of before. Raffaele knew exactly where to take us and when. The combination with Tuscany made it a complete photographic journey.
